About the Role
The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining recycling equipment, heavy compactors, and light trucks to ensure safe and productive operations. Typical work includes routine maintenance of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems such as sorting screens, balers, conveyors, and compactors. Key duties include diagnosing mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, and technical manuals; performing repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compactors and light trucks; replacing or overhauling machine components per work orders; and completing field service and daily consumables reports. The technician also conducts preventative maintenance, troubleshoots complex electromechanical systems, installs and repairs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, odor and negative‑pressure systems, and reads or programs simple PLC instructions while adhering to all safety policies. • Diagnose mechanical issues using charts, diagnostic software, and manuals. • Perform repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compactors, and light trucks. • Replace or overhaul machine components according to work orders. • Complete field service and daily consumables reports in the work order system. • Conduct preventative maintenance following scheduled intervals. • Troubleshoot and maintain complex electromechanical systems independently. • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, odor, and negative‑pressure systems. • Install and commission new equipment and coordinate maintenance schedules with vendors. • Read, troubleshoot, and program simple PLC instructions to improve plant performance. • Follow all safety policies and procedures.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least one year of experience with building maintenance, HVAC, odor or negative‑pressure systems and a minimum of three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Additional qualifications include knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems, welding/fabrication skills, PLC programming experience, a valid driver’s license, and certifications in mechanical or trade trades as well as electronic diagnostics. • Possess at least 1 year of building maintenance, HVAC, odor, or negative‑pressure experience. • Have a minimum of 3 years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution setting. • Knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems and welding/fabrication techniques. • PLC programming experience and a valid driver’s license. • Mechanical or trade school certification and electronic diagnostics certificate.
