About the Role

The Associate Managing Director I will build a staff, coordinate execution of all Market Focus activities in the region, and maintain client satisfaction. You will generate new revenue, expand existing streams, and stay externally focused on developing relationships with architects, PM/CM firms, and key general contractors. Tracking leads, forecasting pipelines, and developing winning strategies and teams are essential responsibilities. Additional duties include staying abreast of regional and national market trends, fostering internal networks for staffing and pursuits, and ensuring technical excellence in project delivery. You will develop and coordinate the regional practice area business plan in alignment with the national plan, set goals with the national team, and create strategies to acquire new high‑margin clients. Overseeing project financials, articulating the firm’s value proposition, leading integrated services sales presentations, writing technical articles, and recruiting senior staff are also required. • Build and lead a regional staff to execute Market Focus activities and maintain client satisfaction. • Generate new revenue and expand existing revenue streams within the designated market. • Develop and nurture relationships with architects, PM/CM firms, and key general contractors. • Track leads, forecast project pipeline, and devise winning strategies and teams. • Stay current on regional and national market trends and share insights with the national team. • Ensure technical excellence in project delivery and resolve complex issues. • Create and coordinate the regional practice area business plan aligned with national goals. • Develop strategies to acquire new clients and increase high‑margin work. • Oversee project financials, interoffice, and client reporting structures. • Articulate the firm’s value proposition and lead integrated services sales presentations. • Write articles, white papers, and present at industry conferences. • Recruit senior staff with market‑specific experience and provide leadership to new hires. • Maintain dynamic Employee Resource Groups and competitive PTO.

What You Bring

We are seeking a performance‑driven, highly motivated leader to collaborate with our national practice area leadership team and eventually oversee a regional practice. This role offers the chance to expand a well‑established brand with existing clients and innovative projects. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, an understanding of owner/client business strategies, and the ability to anticipate challenges. Technical expertise must be complemented by self‑motivation, relationship‑building, effective communication, and the capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience), PE registration, 15+ years of relevant market design experience, at least 7 years of management experience, and thorough knowledge of MEP systems. • Minimum 15+ years of relevant MEP design experience; 7+ years of management experience. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; PE registration required. • Proven expertise in MEP systems and business development for engineering/construction. • Flexible to travel within the East Coast and occasional international trips.
