About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Technician repairs and maintains heavy, compact, light service equipment and trucks, handling preventative inspections, hydraulics, fuel, exhaust, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emissions systems. Key responsibilities include maintaining advanced diagnostic knowledge, repairing and maintaining electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles such as compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders, and working on engines, transmissions, chassis, drivetrains, bodies, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, suspension, wheels, tires, and undercarriages. The technician reads equipment reports, communicates with supervisors and operators, discusses preventive techniques, completes paperwork, documents parts usage, tracks work order versus time card hours, submits daily consumables reports to the Dossier fleet management system, collects oil samples and onboard computer data, follows all safety policies, and performs engine overhauls. • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy equipment and related vehicles. • Perform preventative maintenance on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, and suspension systems. • Complete work orders, parts usage documentation, and daily consumables reports in the Dossier fleet management system. • Collect and analyze oil samples and onboard computer data to inform maintenance decisions. • Follow OSHA safety procedures, including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection.

What You Bring

Qualifications require advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrain, suspension, steering, and wheel-end components, supported by ASE certification. Candidates must have at least one year of heavy‑equipment technician experience, a mechanical trade school certificate or degree, a certificate in electrical diagnostics, applicable ASE certifications, familiarity with Tier 4 emission systems, and welding or fabrication skills. Minimum requirements include one year of experience in a technician role that adheres to OSHA Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection regulations. • Possess ASE certification and advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, and Tier 4 emissions. • Minimum of one year experience servicing heavy equipment such as compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders. • Hold a mechanical trade school certificate or degree and welding/fabrication skills.
