About the Role

The Architectural Technologist works closely with the Sales and Design team and reports to the Project Concept Manager, turning concept sketches, scopes of work and site information into accurate, code‑compliant, build‑ready drawings for residential renovation and infill projects. The role ensures documents are permit‑ready and clearly communicated to internal teams and field crews. Key responsibilities include capturing existing conditions through site measurements, producing as‑built drawings, developing conceptual floor plans and 3D renderings, creating permit‑ready and detailed construction drawings, and revising documents as design changes arise. Coordination with Sales, Design and Production teams is essential to align design intent, meet timelines and support field execution. • Conduct site measurements at client homes to capture existing conditions. • Produce accurate as‑built drawings based on measurements. • Develop conceptual floor plans and 3D renderings using in‑house design concepts. • Create permit‑ready drawings for municipal approval. • Generate detailed construction drawings, including dimensions, sections and details. • Revise drawings to accommodate design changes, client feedback and technical requirements. • Coordinate with Sales, Design and Production teams to align design intent and constructability. • Monitor design deliverables to meet project timelines. • Participate in internal and client meetings as needed. • Provide clear, complete drawing packages to support production. • Regular team‑building and social activities.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold an Architectural Technologist diploma, have at least three years of experience in residential design, and possess strong knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and Edmonton zoning bylaws. Proficiency in Chief Architect (or similar CAD software) and Microsoft Office 365 is required. The ideal professional is detail‑oriented, enjoys analyzing codes and space planning, can work independently, collaborates effectively with designers, and solves practical, code‑compliant challenges. Creativity, curiosity and a team‑focused attitude are also valued. The role is primarily office‑based with regular computer work, but includes occasional site visits for measurements and exposure to active construction environments, requiring appropriate PPE. Standard weekday hours are expected, with some flexibility for project deadlines or client meetings. • Architectural Technologist diploma from an accredited institution. • Minimum 3 + years experience as an architectural technologist or similar residential role. • Strong working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and its application to residential construction. • Familiarity with City of Edmonton zoning bylaws. • Proficiency in Chief Architect or comparable CAD‑based design software. • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
