About the Role
Nova Scotia Power is hiring a Manager, Contractor Oversight for its Distribution Capital Management department in Halifax, NS. The role will lead and manage transmission and distribution contractors to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality service in line with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. It will also oversee the Meter Shop and Protective Equipment Test Center to ensure optimal performance and compliance. The manager will champion a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental regulations, and supervise the team responsible for the NS Power Contractor Safety Management System. They will develop and execute a Management Operating System with detailed work plans, budgets, and contribute to long-term business planning, while fostering a high-performing team and administering the Collective Agreement fairly. Building strong internal and external partnerships and maintaining rigorous cost controls, including the integration of technology for contractor dispatch and monitoring, are also key duties. • Ensure safety compliance with OHS and environmental regulations. • Supervise contractor safety management system compliance. • Oversee Meter Shop and Protective Equipment Test Center operations. • Create and manage detailed work plans, budgets, and long-term business plans. • Lead a high-performing team and administer the Collective Agreement equitably. • Develop internal and external partnerships to enhance service delivery. • Implement cost-control measures and technology solutions for contractor dispatch and monitoring.

What You Bring
Successful candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration or a related discipline and bring 7–10 years of leadership experience in energy utility operations, particularly in safety, contractor management and customer service. Proven leadership, communication and organizational abilities are essential, and experience in resource planning and utility financial management is considered an asset. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration or a related field. • Possess 7–10 years of utility leadership experience focused on safety and contractor management. • Demonstrate strong leadership, communication and organizational skills. • Preferred: experience in resource planning and utility financial management.
