About the Role
You will provide day‑to‑day technical transport planning input on development projects while also taking on project‑management and leadership responsibilities where appropriate, including mentoring Early Career Professionals. You will lead or support transport planning on small to medium scale projects, work with senior colleagues on complex multi‑disciplinary deliveries, develop commercial skills and grow your professional network to aid business development. • Lead technical work on transport assessments, travel plans, access strategies, parking strategies, sustainable transport and active travel, following guidance such as NPPF and DfT Transport Assessment guidelines. • Prepare traffic flow information for transport assessments or environmental statements. • Set up and run junction capacity modelling software (e.g., Junctions 10, Linsig) and perform scenario testing. • Manage small to medium scale projects, including budgeting, resource planning, and invoicing. • Carry out or supervise conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals). • Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, co‑professionals and stakeholders. • Mentor and share knowledge with Early Career Professionals. • Develop a professional network of co‑professionals and clients.

What You Bring
We are seeking a Principal Development Planner with a strong development‑related transport planning background to join our Development team in Manchester. The role involves working on projects ranging from commercial, retail and residential schemes to transport strategies, masterplan inputs and expert‑witness evidence. You will support private‑sector clients through the planning process and public‑sector clients with transport and parking strategies, collaborating closely with our Highways, Services, Structures and Environmental teams on multi‑disciplinary proposals. • Use standard software packages such as Excel and Word proficiently. • Hold experienced transport planner credentials with postgraduate experience; ideally pursuing chartered status.
