About the Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor role, based in Hampton, Middlesex, London, is part of Galliford Try’s Thames team and involves travel across project sites. The successful candidate will manage commercial administration, reporting and performance on a large project or several smaller schemes, ensuring financial control, contractual compliance and successful delivery. In this position you will ensure a safe working environment, produce and negotiate subcontract documentation, manage subcontract work packages and change, issue commercial notices, prepare and agree monthly client applications, maintain accurate site records, produce monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations, track and forecast the cost plan and subcontractor liabilities, and lead weekly progress and risk reduction meetings while supporting estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise. • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with company standards. • Produce and negotiate subcontract documentation, terms, prices and programmes. • Manage subcontract work packages, including interim assessments and change management. • Issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors as required. • Manage contractual changes and Compensation Event quotations. • Prepare, submit and agree monthly applications to the client. • Liaise with operational and engineering teams to maintain accurate site records. • Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs). • Maintain and forecast a detailed cost plan, tracking subcontractor liabilities. • Interpret and evaluate expenditure reports from internal cost systems. • Lead weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors. • Provide contractual expertise to estimating and bid teams.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of standard forms of contract, excellent IT skills including Excel, Word and experience with CEMAR and Oracle, solid construction knowledge and stakeholder management abilities, first‑class time and organisational skills, experience managing large or multiple projects, commercial acumen, the ability to work under pressure, collaborative interpersonal skills and flexibility to travel extensively; a professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS (or working towards it), a relevant degree or experience, and a CSCS card are also required. • Strong understanding of standard forms of contract. • Excellent IT skills (Excel, Word) and experience with CEMAR and Oracle. • Solid knowledge of construction processes. • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities. • First‑class time management and organisational skills. • Experience managing large projects or multiple smaller schemes. • Commercially astute with strong analytical skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills. • Flexible and willing to travel extensively. • Professional qualification (MCIOB or MRICS) desirable, working towards full membership. • Relevant degree or equivalent commercial experience. • CSCS card holder.
