Engineer I - Mechanical Design
Design and improve mechanical components for medium/high voltage switching equipment.
Job Highlights
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support components for medium‑voltage and high‑voltage switching equipment. The role ensures reliability and efficiency of existing products while driving product and process improvements and resolving emerging issues. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include interacting with U.S. clients to gather project requirements and evaluating requests to plan project activities. The engineer analyzes technical requirements, conducts simulations, selects materials, and generates specifications to meet design goals. Collaboration with cross‑functional teams and creation of drawings, engineering changes, and related paperwork ensure project progress and compliance. Regular reporting of status and participation in design‑for‑manufacturing and cost‑reduction initiatives round out the role. • Design mechanical components for medium and high voltage switching equipment using SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD tools. • Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards, customer specifications, and SAP ERP processes. • Lead multiple concurrent projects independently while coordinating with operations, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. • Apply sheet‑metal, casting, and assembly knowledge to improve reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. • Interact with U.S. clients to gather requirements, analyze technical needs, and provide redesign or design‑to‑value recommendations. • Perform simulations, select materials, and generate product specifications to meet project goals. • Create and manage engineering drawings, change orders, and related documentation. • Participate in cross‑functional teams to drive design‑for‑manufacturing, cost reduction, and process improvements.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and has 5‑8 years of mechanical design experience. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects independently, develop 3D models in SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent, and understand sheet‑metal, casting, and assembly processes is required. Familiarity with SAP ERP, IEC/IEEE standards, and industrial or electromechanical products is essential. Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as a focus on reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency, are expected. • Communicate project status and progress clearly, both verbally and in writing. • Utilize strong analytical and data‑analysis skills to support continuous process improvement.
