About the Role
The role involves erecting, dismantling, and repairing industrial scaffolding, including stairs and walkways, using hand and power tools while following drawings and plans. The Scaffold Builder will also perform crane and rigging hand‑signal duties when needed and assist with other scaffold‑related tasks as assigned. • Lead scaffold construction, erection, installation, and repair of wood, plywood, and metal structures. • Build stairs and walkways according to specifications. • Interpret prints, drawings, and plans to execute scaffold layouts. • Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, and assemble scaffold components. • Perform crane and rigging hand‑signal operations when required. • Communicate inspection findings and safety concerns to supervisors. • Maintain reliable transportation and meet all safety, background, and medical requirements.

What You Bring
ZACHRY is seeking an experienced NCCER‑certified Industrial Journeyman Scaffold Builder for maintenance work at the Exxon BMT site in Beaumont, Texas. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license; this position does not provide per diem. The position reports to a foreman and works alongside journeymen and helpers, requiring strong teamwork, communication, and adherence to Zachry’s safety values and regulations. Essential qualifications include proficient mechanical skills, experience with tube‑lock and pin‑lock scaffold systems, ability to read technical drawings, and a solid understanding of industrial machinery, hand and power tools, and safety practices. Candidates must also have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and required medical exams. Physical demands are high, with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and occasional work at heights. Workers must wear appropriate PPE and be able to operate in all weather conditions and noisy environments where heavy equipment is present. • Apply tube‑lock and pin‑lock scaffold systems with proficiency. • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and time‑management skills. • Possess 4‑5 years of industrial maintenance experience (preferred) and prior Zachry employment (preferred).
