About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Technician repairs and maintains heavy, compact, light service equipment and trucks. Typical work includes preventative inspections and servicing of hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brake, suspension, electrical, HVAC and emission systems. The role requires diagnosing mechanical issues, reading equipment condition reports, communicating with supervisors and operators, and documenting work through work orders, parts usage, and consumables reports in the Dossier fleet management system. Technicians also perform engine overhauls, analyze oil samples and onboard computer data, and adhere to all safety policies. • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment systems including hydraulics, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC and emissions. • Diagnose mechanical problems using equipment reports and onboard diagnostics, and communicate findings to supervisors and operators. • Complete work orders, parts usage logs, and daily consumables reports for fleet management software. • Conduct engine overhauls and analyze oil samples and computer data to maintain equipment performance. • Follow all OSHA safety procedures, including HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection regulations.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold ASE certifications covering air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, drivetrain, suspension and steering, and have at least one year of heavy‑equipment service experience. A mechanical trade school certificate or degree, electrical diagnostics training, knowledge of Tier 4 emissions, and welding/fabrication skills are also required, along with OSHA HazCom, Lockout/Tagout and fire‑protection familiarity. • ASE certifications in air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, drivetrain, suspension and steering. • Minimum one year of experience servicing heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders and compactors. • Mechanical trade school certificate or degree and training in electrical diagnostics. • Knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems and welding/fabrication skills. • Ability to work with fleet management software and interpret oil sampling analyses.
