About the Role
The Survey Party Chief will manage all aspects of construction surveying, including processing design data into base survey files with AutoCAD Civil 3D, integrating topographic, utility, grading, and GIS datasets, and ensuring project accuracy. What You Bring
RQ Construction is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief (licensed surveyor required) to join our growing Self‑Perform Building Trades team. Based in Jacksonville, FL, the role supports Southeast projects and leads construction surveys and stakeout activities for various government projects. Candidates must hold an associate degree in Land Surveying or a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and be a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Florida or Georgia (or obtain licensure before assignment). Preferred credentials include an active Surveyor‑in‑Training certification. At least three years of experience as a lead survey instrument operator, preferably in building and land surveying and construction stakeout, is required. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (2017+), survey equipment, GIS workflows, and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat) are essential. Ability to travel to job sites is also required. • Associate degree in Land Surveying or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Forestry, or related field • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in FL or GA (or obtain prior to assignment) • Active Surveyor‑in‑Training (SIT) or other Geomatics certification preferred • Minimum 3+ years experience as lead survey instrument operator • Experience in building and land surveying and construction stakeout preferred • Proficiency in preparing deliverables that meet DOR requirements • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D (v2017 or higher) • Knowledge of survey equipment, field data collection techniques, and GIS workflows • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat • Ability to travel to job sites as needed
