Civil Design Lead

About the Role

You will design foundations for HV/EHV switchyard equipment—including power transformers, reactors, gantries, towers, drainage, cable trenches, GIS buildings, and office/storage structures—while reviewing civil drawings to comply with local regulations. The position also requires adherence to internal and external procedures, guided by Hitachi’s core values of safety and integrity. • Analyse customer specifications to align solutions with project needs. • Design steel and reinforced‑concrete foundations for HV/EHV switchyard equipment and related infrastructure. • Review civil drawings and documentation for compliance with local regulations and standards. • Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for foundations, superstructures, and PEB structures. • Ensure adherence to internal procedures, external regulations, and Hitachi’s safety and integrity policies.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a degree in Civil Engineering and possess at least five years of relevant experience. Required skills include STAAD, AutoCAD/Revit, MS Office, and knowledge of British (BS), Indian, and ACI codes; familiarity with Eurocodes, DIN, or ASTM is advantageous. Experience in BOQ preparation for civil foundations, superstructures, and PEB structures, as well as strong attention to detail and excellent communication, is essential. • Hold a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field). • Minimum of 5 + years experience in civil design for power substations or switchyards. • Proficiency in STAAD, AutoCAD/Revit, and MS Office (Word, Excel). • Working knowledge of British (BS), Indian, and ACI codes; familiarity with Eurocodes, DIN, ASTM is a plus. • Hands‑on experience with BOQ preparation and material estimation for civil, steel, and MEP components. • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, self‑starter attitude, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
