About the Role
The role involves conducting floristic, vegetation and habitat surveys across terrestrial and freshwater environments, including targeted surveys for rare or protected species. You will perform tree inventories and arboricultural assessments, identify native and invasive plant species, and collect detailed botanical field data with GPS, photos and sample chain‑of‑custody. Technical deliverables such as baseline ecology sections, impact assessments, mitigation and monitoring plans will be produced to support EIAs, BIAs and ecological constraint studies. • Conduct floristic, vegetation, and habitat surveys in terrestrial and freshwater sites. • Perform tree inventories and arboricultural assessments, including measurement and mapping. • Identify native, non‑native, and invasive plant species and recommend management measures. • Collect and manage botanical field data, photos, GPS points, and sample chain‑of‑custody. • Produce technical deliverables such as baseline ecology sections, impact assessments, and mitigation plans. • Support EIAs, BIAs, and ecological constraints studies with flora‑specific analysis. • Use GIS/CAD for habitat mapping, spatial analysis, and maintain accurate metadata. • Apply relevant legislation, standards, and client requirements to ensure compliance. • Develop recommendations for avoidance, restoration, and enhancement, and prepare method statements. • Coordinate field logistics, supervise junior staff or subcontractors, and ensure site safety. • Communicate findings to project managers and multidisciplinary teams. • Contribute to proposal development with effort estimates and survey methodologies.

What You Bring
GIS and CAD are used for habitat mapping, spatial analysis and metadata management while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and client requirements. You will develop practical recommendations for avoidance, restoration and enhancement, prepare method statements and coordinate field logistics, supervising junior staff or subcontractors as needed. Clear communication with project managers and multidisciplinary teams is essential, as is contributing to proposal development with effort estimates and survey methodologies. A minimum of a Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline (or a Bachelor’s with equivalent experience) and at least two years of relevant consultancy or environmental engineering experience are required. Proficiency in modeling software, CAD or GIS and demonstrated project management ability are highly regarded, along with fluent spoken and written English and strong written, verbal and presentation skills. • Hold a Master’s degree in Ecology or related field, or a Bachelor’s with equivalent experience. • Minimum of two years’ experience in ecological consultancy or environmental engineering. • Proficient in modeling software, CAD, and GIS. • Demonstrated project management ability. • Fluent in spoken and written English with strong communication skills.
