About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality gas servicing, repairs and installations across the organisation’s housing stock, ensuring that all gas appliances and systems are safe, compliant and fit for use. Working both independently and within a team, the engineer will maintain high standards of customer service, health and safety, and regulatory compliance. • Service, repair and install domestic gas appliances such as boilers, cookers and fires • Diagnose faults and carry out remedial works safely and efficiently • Perform landlord gas safety inspections and issue CP12 certificates • Ensure all work complies with current gas regulations and internal procedures • Work on void properties, gas moves, pipe re‑runs and meter relocations • Relocate gas pipes for new cooker layouts • Respond to emergency call‑outs and urgent repairs as required • Record all work using handheld devices or job management systems • Liaise with tenants, housing officers and internal teams for clear communication • Maintain van stock levels and order materials when needed • Identify and report safeguarding concerns or property hazards • Collaborate with other trades on multi‑skill jobs • Participate in toolbox talks, training sessions and safety briefings • Wear PPE and follow health & safety procedures at all times • Support apprentices or junior engineers as needed

What You Bring

Mears Group is offering a permanent full‑time Gas Engineer role in Medway, based in Gillingham, with a salary of up to £40,000 per annum plus a company vehicle and fuel card. The position is 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and requires a full UK driving licence. Key requirements include City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Gas Installation and Maintenance, a valid ACS certification, and proven experience in domestic boiler servicing, fault diagnosis and installation. Candidates must also demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to use digital job‑management tools, and a full UK driving licence.
