About the Role

The Assistant Manager serves as the “second in command,” handling daily operational and supervisory activities, ensuring RTMC policies and procedures are followed, and acting as the RTMC Manager when absent. This role also oversees the overall functionality of the RTMC Operations Floor. • Supervise the Lead Operations Supervisor and RTMC staff, ensuring compliance with procedures and policies. • Coordinate closely with Gannett Fleming Project Manager, Department Contract Manager, D3 ITS team, vendors, and other stakeholders. • Attend inter‑agency meetings and participate in Critical Incident Reviews to ensure proper coordination. • Support RTMC public‑relations and marketing efforts as directed by the RTMC Manager. • Prepare monthly performance reports for operators and supervisors, maintaining PPM and COO metrics. • Update technical documents and communicate PPM changes efficiently to operations staff. • Develop, modify, and deliver training materials; conduct initial operator training and certification. • Ensure full staff coverage for RTMC operations and advise on equipment/resource issues.

What You Bring

Candidates must complete a criminal background check, a drug screen, and may be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with valid religious or medical exemptions considered according to law. • Minimum 7 years of ITS supervisory/management experience in a similar RTMC environment. • At least 5 years of ITS supervisory/management experience at the Chipley RTMC. • Knowledge of ITS and traffic operations principles, including incident management. • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Experience with hiring processes, including interviewing potential employees. • Ability to work alternate schedules and be on‑call 24/7. • Proficiency with Windows OS and office applications; ability to write technical reports, manuals, and correspondence. • Ability to coordinate real‑time activities and priorities. • Pass SLERS background check and contract‑mandated drug screening. • Complete FDOT Intermediate or Advanced Temporary Traffic Control training within 1 year. • Obtain SHRP2 Train the Trainer certification within 1 year.
