About the Role

The entry‑level role includes cleaning and monitoring power‑generating equipment, general plant clean‑up, routine maintenance tasks, snow removal, and grounds keeping such as grass cutting. Employees will complete training in general mechanical maintenance, operate plant equipment, and may pursue state boiler‑license certification or other required training as directed by plant management. • Clean and monitor power‑generating equipment throughout the plant. • Perform general plant clean‑up, snow removal, and grounds‑keeping tasks such as grass cutting. • Carry out routine maintenance duties as trained and assigned. • Operate plant equipment and participate in required training programs, including boiler‑license certification. • Wear a respirator and perform tasks from scaffolds or catwalks as needed. • Participate in short‑term and long‑term disability, employee assistance, fitness center reimbursement, and tuition reimbursement programs.

What You Bring

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a passing score on the Edison Electric Institute Power Plant Maintenance and Plant Operator exams or be a grandfathered employee, and a valid driver’s license. Preference is given to candidates with post‑secondary technical training, and all applicants must pass Xcel Energy’s screening process, including a drug test, security clearance, and any applicable OSHA or DOT examinations. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely, work in inclement weather, wear a respirator, and perform duties from scaffolds or catwalks in high and confined spaces. Employees must be able to work overtime, various and rotating shifts as needed. • Complete training and qualification in general mechanical maintenance skills. • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent and pass EEI Power Plant Maintenance and Plant Operator exams (or be grandfathered). • Possess a valid driver’s license; post‑secondary technical training is preferred. • Successfully pass Xcel Energy’s drug test, security clearance, and any OSHA/DOT examinations. • Lift up to 50 pounds safely and work in inclement weather and confined spaces. • Be available for overtime, various shifts, and rotating shift schedules.
