About the Role

The Project Superintendent (PS) at Sundt plans, coordinates, and supervises field and administrative operations for large construction projects. The role provides technical direction and is accountable for safety, cost control, productivity, profitability, and overall quality, including self‑performed work. PSs set productivity goals, schedule labor, materials, and equipment, and may oversee one or more field superintendents. Two senior levels exist: Sr. Project Superintendent I handles projects $51‑$100 M with 10‑15 years experience, while Sr. Project Superintendent II manages larger or multiple projects up to $199 M with at least 15 years experience. The superintendent evaluates technical submittals and shop drawings, hosts weekly coordination gatherings, and records design discrepancies for clarification. They create and oversee comprehensive construction execution plans, ensure contract terms are met profitably, and keep the CPM schedule current through LEAN methodologies. Leadership extends to guiding project teams and subcontractors, while performance is judged on safety, schedule, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction, including the enforcement of quality and safety management plans and timely punch‑list closure. • Review shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders, and purchase orders. • Conduct weekly coordination meetings and prepare daily field status reports. • Document design conflicts and coordinate clarifications. • Develop and manage construction execution plan. • Ensure work is performed per contract terms profitably. • Interact effectively with owners, teams, and stakeholders to maintain a positive environment. • Update and maintain CPM project schedule using LEAN processes and weekly work plans. • Provide leadership and guidance to project team members and subcontractors. • Drive project success across profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction. • Develop and implement Project Quality Management and Safety plans per Sundt standards. • Complete punch lists and schedule start‑up/commissioning of systems. • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend. • Use telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices for limited communication. • Comply with all safety standards and procedures. • Occasionally climb stairs or ladders. • Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects. • Frequently interact with people during a shift. • Occasionally lift, push, or pull objects. • Sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire shift.

What You Bring

Candidates must possess excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory abilities, along with a four‑year engineering degree or equivalent technical training. A thorough understanding of construction technology, equipment, methods, negotiations, cost control, scheduling, and safety is required, as is prior experience supervising similar facilities. The position demands regular use of personal protective equipment and the ability to perform physical tasks such as reaching, lifting, climbing, and frequent interaction with personnel. It is classified as safety‑sensitive, reflecting duties that could impact the safety and health of the employee or others. • Excellent communication, organization, and supervisory skills. • Four‑year engineering degree or equivalent technical training/experience. • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, negotiations, cost control, scheduling, and safety. • Experience supervising construction projects in similar facilities. • Wear required PPE (steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest). • Frequently reach above shoulder height and below waist.
