About the Role
This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. It establishes and maintains positive relationships with front‑line employees and spends the majority of the day in the field with them. Key duties include ensuring new employees have the tools, instruction, and feedback needed for daily tasks, meeting with them daily for consistent communication, and providing timely touchpoints. The role reviews best practices, focuses on employee career goals, and identifies improvement opportunities while actively seeking feedback on coaching conversations. It leads by example to uphold safety practices, teaches the WM Way, conducts root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, and ensures consistent discipline and retraining. Documentation and regulatory records are maintained, and daily audits of route operations (DVIRs, time and attendance, open tickets) are performed with appropriate follow‑up. Customer site visits are conducted to evaluate and resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives. • Onboard, coach, mentor, and manage performance of drivers and helpers. • Provide daily check‑ins, tools, instruction, and feedback to new frontline employees. • Review best practices, set career goals, and address improvement opportunities. • Lead safety initiatives, conduct root‑cause investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance. • Audit route documentation (DVIRs, time, tickets) and follow up as needed. • Visit customer sites to resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are an associate’s degree (or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience), being at least 18 years old, legal eligibility to work in the country, and a valid driver’s license. A preferred qualification is successful completion of the WM Operations Manager Trainee program. The position operates in a combination of office and plant/field environments, routinely requiring the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines.
