About the Role

The Senior Consultant role is part of the regional Development Team in Newcastle, focusing on transport and civil engineering for development planning, providing specialist advice to private sector and local authority clients on residential, mixed‑use and master‑planning projects. Key duties include delivering concept studies, transport statements, assessments, travel plans, parking and access studies, supporting planning applications, managing client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered on budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements. The Development Team, a high‑performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, collaborates with planning, infrastructure, structures, transport and environmental teams across the UK and internationally, delivering services such as site appraisal, strategic planning advice and multidisciplinary design. • Deliver concept studies, transport statements, assessments, travel plans, parking and access studies for development projects. • Provide specialist transport advice to private and local authority clients on residential, mixed‑use and master‑planning schemes. • Collaborate with planning, infrastructure, structures, transport and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects. • Manage client relationships and ensure high levels of technical competence and client satisfaction. • Ensure projects meet budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements. • Mentor and support junior technical staff across various grades.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will hold a numerate degree in Transport, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related field, have extensive transport planning experience, be proficient in junction modelling software, possess strong numeracy and problem‑solving skills, and demonstrate financial, programme and people management capabilities, nearing chartership or equivalent experience. • Hold a numerate degree in Transport, Civil Engineering, Planning or related discipline. • Demonstrated experience leading client engagements and delivering diverse transport planning projects. • Proficient in junction modelling software (e.g., Junctions 9, PICADY, ARCADY, Linsig) and capable of mentoring others. • Strong numerical, problem‑solving and innovative thinking abilities. • Proven financial and programme management experience, including line‑management responsibilities. • Near chartership or equivalent commercial experience.
