About the Role
• Conduct monthly coordination calls with Business Class leadership and Section managers. • Support development of the Utility Coordination and Design Business Class and identify upcoming projects or pursuits. • Review workload, staff availability, and utilization reports to determine hiring or workshare needs. • Participate in Project Approach and Resource (PARR) reviews and evaluate project proposals. • Perform project reviews or audits to validate quality practices and address technical or performance issues. • Serve as focal point for Transportation Business Group to deliver Utility Coordination and Design services across HDR. • Identify and develop technical leaders within the business class for key projects and initiatives. • Manage hiring, staff interaction, technical development, workshare, and project assignments. • Participate in marketing activities, including proposal development, staffing assignments, and sub‑consultant identification. • Travel up to 15–25 % nationally to support project pursuits and delivery.

What You Bring
HDR is seeking a Utility Coordination and Design Business Class Director to lead technical delivery of our utility coordination and design services. The director will ensure quality assurance, resource availability, and successful project delivery while positioning HDR as a preferred service provider. This role requires strong collaboration across business classes, technical leadership, and limited travel to support national project pursuits. The position is not tied to a specific geography, though a location with a strong HDR presence is preferred. Travel is estimated at 15 % to 25 % of the time, varying month to month, to support project pursuits and delivery nationwide. • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related professional field. • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. • Professional engineering registration and related technical expertise. • Proven experience developing and managing diverse teams. • Ability to collaborate with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
