About the Role
• Provide pre‑construction support. • Manage submittal and RFI processes for specific definable features of work (DFW) using PMA to closure. • Evaluate and distribute project design and engineering documents. • Prepare team for site mobilization and research living arrangements. • Create turnover binder templates and assist with pre‑mobilization kickoff meetings. • Arrange short‑form subcontracts with local entities (power, trailers, housing). • Draft subcontracts and purchase agreements. • Use Best Practice Database for SWIs, quality documents, and meeting preparation. • Manage QA/QC per Project Quality Plan and oversee inventory processes. • Coordinate DFW prep meetings, inspections, and final punch‑list inspections.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Field Engineer for its Solar group to participate in active construction project management, applying basic construction management and engineering techniques. The role is based in Texas and requires 100% travel, with assignments rotating to new projects upon completion. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Mortenson does not accept agency solicitations without a valid agreement. Postings typically remain open for a minimum of five days, with an average duration of 44 days. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Prior construction site experience preferred. • Valid driver’s license. • Ability to independently apply construction management or engineering principles. • Capability to interpret technical documents such as blueprints and design drawings. • Basic knowledge of project scheduling and estimating. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet applications. • Ability to learn and use construction management software. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Skill in building relationships and transferring information across workforce levels. • Ability to multitask and travel up to 100%.

Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $78,800 to $98,500, with higher ranges for certain locations. Compensation is determined by knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
