About the Role

The Traffic Engineering Co‑op will collaborate with a dynamic team of traffic engineering and transportation planning professionals on projects such as municipal traffic signal coordination, transit operation studies, traffic modelling, impact studies, road safety analysis, and highway planning. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to modernizing aging infrastructure and pioneering next‑generation transportation solutions, leaving a legacy of smarter, more connected networks. • Perform traffic operations analysis and field surveys. • Conduct traffic impact and development studies. • Optimize traffic signals and coordinate municipal signal systems. • Execute transit operation studies and microsimulation using Vissim or Aimsun. • Analyze safety data and collisions. • Process and analyze traffic data; create graphics and maps. • Produce technical writing and documentation. • Apply traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, Vissim, Aimsun, EMME, Legion, and ArcGIS. • Utilize data analytics tools including Python, SQL, Microsoft Azure, and AWS. • Engage with HDR’s Employee Network Groups (Asian Pacific, Black, Hispanic/Latino(a), LGBTQ+, People with Disabilities, Veterans, Women, Young Professionals).
