About the Role
In a leadership capacity you will own the UK MOD Enterprise accounts, set and implement business strategies, and ensure effective collaboration with internal units such as commercial, work‑winning, and strategic marketing. You will also cultivate relationships with counterparts in other geographies, including the US DoD, to support global defence programmes. You will shape the regional defence growth strategy, define targets, and prioritize pursuits in partnership with operating unit leaders and CAMs. Responsibilities include driving business development, managing the sales pipeline, leading capture teams, and working with marketing to launch strategic campaigns that position AECOM for major opportunities. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts and set strategic business objectives. • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and global defence partners. • Develop and execute regional defence growth strategy and prioritize pursuits. • Drive business development, capture management, and pipeline activities for major contracts. • Collaborate with marketing to create targeted campaigns that support win pursuits. • Provide senior leadership, strategic insight, and customer engagement across the defence sector. • Secure and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC/Developed Vetting) and travel as required.

What You Bring
We are seeking a Business Development – Account Director for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to strengthen AECOM’s position as a partner of choice and drive long‑term market growth. The role sits on AECOM’s Defence Leadership Team, reports to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, and works closely with defence sector leaders across business lines. An active UK Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one) and willingness to travel to London and other UK offices are required. The ideal candidate is an outstanding senior leader with deep UK MOD knowledge, a proven record of securing $5‑20 million consulting contracts, and strong networks across government, OEMs, and industry. You must demonstrate strategic thinking, strong business acumen, and the emotional intelligence to navigate a complex customer ecosystem. • Possess extensive UK MOD experience, proven $5‑20 million contract wins, and strong industry network.
