About the Role
Key elements of the role include traveling throughout the province and providing temporary support to other locations as needed. The incumbent must complete in‑house safety, environmental, vehicle‑operation and related training, and participate in on‑the‑job skill development. They are responsible for personal and coworker safety, environmental performance, proactive risk assessment, and must reside within 30 minutes of headquarters to respond to after‑hour emergencies, while complying with Emera’s alcohol and drug policy. • Travel province‑wide and provide temporary support to other locations. • Participate in on‑the‑job training to develop additional skills. • Ensure personal safety and that of coworkers by following OHS rules and regulations. • Maintain environmental performance in line with the EMS processes. • Proactively engage in risk assessment and safety practices. • Reside within 30 minutes of headquarters and be ready for after‑hour emergency response. • Perform manual labour using hand and power tools.

What You Bring
Successful candidates will have a Grade 12 education (or equivalent) with strong reading and writing skills, and be capable of manual labour using common hand and power tools. Experience in communications, forestry or utilities is an asset, as is self‑motivation, teamwork, and a strong environmental awareness, including familiarity with an Environmental Management System. A valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with at least two years of driving experience and a satisfactory abstract are required; an off‑highway vehicle and trailer‑towing certificate is desirable. • Complete in‑house safety, environmental, vehicle‑operation and related training. • Pass a confidential pre‑employment alcohol and drug test per Emera policy. • Hold a Grade 12 education (or equivalent) with sufficient literacy skills. • Possess communication, forestry or utility experience (preferred). • Demonstrate self‑motivation, teamwork and minimal supervision. • Exhibit strong environmental awareness and understanding of EMS. • Hold a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with ≥2 years experience and a satisfactory abstract. • Possess, or be willing to obtain, an off‑highway vehicle and trailer‑towing certificate (asset).
