About the Role

In this position you will provide technical design and civil/structural drafting support, ensuring that all work products meet or exceed industry standards for design, safety and functionality. You will generate CADD drawings, sketches and renderings, resolve design discrepancies, and support the creation of reports, plans, models, sections, details and material lists. Collaboration with the engineer‑in‑charge and cross‑functional drafting specialists (geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection and architectural) is essential for phased design submittals. You will also collect data from surveys, historical documents and verbal instructions, and keep current on emerging drafting practices. • Collaborate with engineer‑in‑charge and technical team on phased design submittals. • Produce CADD drawings, sketches and renderings of varying scales and complexity. • Resolve design details and discrepancies using CADD or similar software in partnership with engineers. • Deliver accurate design phase documents such as reports, plans, models, sections, details and material lists. • Stay current on drafting best practices and emerging technical standards. • Gather and compile data from surveys, historical documents, sketches and verbal instructions to support design. • Assist engineers with geometric dimensioning, tolerance and quantity calculations ensuring compliance with specifications. • Coordinate with cross‑functional drafting specialists (geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection, architectural). • Ensure all deliverables comply with city, state and federal regulations. • Uphold workplace safety and adhere to WSP health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies. • Adapt work schedule to meet project‑specific demands that may extend beyond a typical week.

What You Bring

The role requires a minimum of a high school diploma and at least eleven years of post‑education drafting experience, strong knowledge of relevant codes and regulations, and the ability to perform technical calculations and geometric dimensioning. Effective communication, self‑leadership, analytical judgment and a solid safety record are also required. Preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree or industry certification and experience with Revit, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Autodesk ReCap or AutoTurn, especially for ports and marine structures. • Minimum high school diploma and 11+ years of post‑education drafting and design support experience. • Strong knowledge of drafting principles, relevant codes, regulations and record‑keeping requirements. • Ability to perform technical computations, geometry and mathematical calculations per standards. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Proven self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking and prioritization in dynamic environments. • Capable of independent work and effective teamwork to meet objectives. • Analytical mindset with sound judgment for evaluating situations and decision‑making. • Proficient in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets and engineering tools. • Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills for data analysis and solution development. • Demonstrated safety record and compliance with WSP policies. • Willingness to travel occasionally as project needs dictate. • Associate’s degree or industry certification in a related field (preferred). • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Autodesk ReCap or AutoTurn (preferred). • Proven drafting experience for ports and marine structures, including rehabilitation and new design (preferred).
