About the Role
The position is part of the Project Systems Engineering team and is responsible for electrical engineering work related to integrating power‑generation equipment in direct‑account customer projects. It requires extensive client interaction, coordination with R&D and custom engineering teams in Friedrichshafen and Mankato, and ongoing support to the Project Systems Execution team. Key responsibilities include managing design and development for new or existing products, acting as the technical authority for a key direct account, and serving as the primary engineering point of contact for all RRSA design activities. The engineer will guide the design of generator‑set control systems, wiring harnesses, electrical diagrams, automatic voltage regulators, transformers, distribution panels, motor controls, protective relays, LV & MV switchgear, and other electrical aspects, while verifying manufacturer drawings for compliance with specifications and electrical codes. The role also involves preparing equipment specifications, selecting effective design concepts, and reviewing customer specifications against MTU designs to identify compliance, deviations, or exemptions. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least five years of relevant experience (or nine years without a degree), and be willing to travel up to 30% for business. • Manage design and development of generator‑set control systems and related electrical components for key accounts. • Act as technical authority and primary engineering point of contact for RRSA design activities. • Verify manufacturer wiring drawings, schematics, and one‑line diagrams for compliance with specifications and electrical codes. • Prepare and finalize specifications for major electrical equipment. • Select design concepts and technologies for new products or improvements. • Review customer specifications against MTU designs to identify compliance, deviations, or exemptions. • Follow ERP procedures and uphold Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct and quality standards.
