About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle pick‑up of containers that can exceed 1,000 lb and navigate high‑traffic roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots, requiring skilled backing maneuvers. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and transport large open‑top or compactor containers, often working in tight overhead industrial environments. All driving duties must follow Waste Management safety policies, OSHA, DOT regulations, and applicable laws. Drivers perform vehicle inspections, report unsafe situations, attend training, and work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. They communicate customer requests, ensure clean dump sites, follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and support other drivers as needed. • Operate trucks in compliance with WM safety rules, OSHA, DOT, and all laws. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service interruptions. • Attend required training, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and best practices. • Communicate customer requests and ensure clean dump sites. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist teammates as needed. • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.

What You Bring
Applicants need at least one year operating a CDL‑required vehicle or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, be 18 or older, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. A valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing.
