About the Role
In this role you will service trucks and equipment that serve over 20 million customers nationwide, performing maintenance on diesel and, at some sites, CNG vehicles. Using modern tools and procedures, you will diagnose, repair, and ensure the safety of a wide range of mechanical systems. • Work at WM’s repair/maintenance shop in Walker, LA • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on various vehicles • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and new parts • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs) • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls • Conduct safety checks on all vehicles • Complete paperwork documenting parts usage and labor time • Finish project work and coordinate repairs from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports • Maintain a clean, safe work area compliant with OSHA and corporate standards

What You Bring
The position requires frequent physical activity such as lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Workers are exposed to typical shop hazards, including noise, chemicals, and variable weather conditions, and must follow OSHA and corporate safety standards. • Preference for welding experience and ASE certifications • Minimum 2 years relevant mechanical experience • Valid driver’s license with clean record • At least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S. • Ability to meet physical job demands (lifting, crouching, climbing, etc.) • Pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively • Determined problem‑solver • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing; constant standing, walking, grasping • Exposure to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather
