About the Role
The Practice Leader – Hydrodynamic Modelling provides strategic, technical, and people leadership, shaping technical excellence, building capability, and strengthening Stantec’s market position as a Tier 1 provider of flood and stormwater modelling. Within Water Resources Australia, the role oversees the Hydrodynamic Modelling knowledge community, driving continuous improvement, consistent processes, and best‑practice approaches across projects of all scales. Collaboration with other Practice Leaders across Australia and New Zealand and with the Technical Delivery Leader – Water ensures alignment of ways of working and promotes a unified, collaborative ANZ business. Reporting to the Market Leader – Water Resources, the Practice Leader contributes to business growth and technical delivery while fostering leadership and capability within the practice. • Identify and develop strategic business opportunities and support major pursuits. • Lead high‑quality project delivery with a focus on automation and digital tools. • Ensure consistency in technical delivery and adoption of tools across the market. • Mentor and support technical leaders within the practice. • Build capability and share best practice through the Practice Knowledge Community. • Collaborate with Business Centre leaders to deliver consistent client outcomes. • Partner with digital innovation teams to enhance and implement automated tools. • Support innovative technical approaches for strategic bids. • Lead by example to uplift digital capability and tool adoption nationally. • Facilitate regular internal forums for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a relevant tertiary qualification (preferably post‑graduate in water resources or computer science), brings at least 15 years of technical leadership and consulting experience, holds professional registration, and possesses strong knowledge of flood and stormwater modelling software along with programming and data analysis skills. • Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably post‑graduate in water resources or computer science. • Minimum 15 years of related work, technical leadership, and consulting experience (or equivalent). • Professional registration in a related field. • Comprehensive knowledge of flood and stormwater modelling software. • Programming and data analysis skills applicable to water resources projects.
