About the Role

In this role, you will support the engineering, analysis, and design of high‑voltage overhead transmission lines under the guidance of experienced engineers, participating in project execution, field coordination, and technical development to ensure safe and reliable line design. • Assist with PLSCADD modeling, line layout, spotting, and structure analysis. • Prepare design calculations for structures, foundations, conductors, and line components. • Support creation of plan/profile drawings, loading trees, material lists, and construction packages. • Evaluate route constraints, clearances, terrain, and reliability requirements. • Participate in QA/QC reviews of drawings, calculations, and deliverables. • Prepare engineering reports, permit exhibits, and cost estimates. • Contribute to internal design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination (civil, environmental, substation, geotech). • Conduct occasional field reviews or site visits to validate engineering designs. • Engage in Career Compass, mentorship, and training programs for professional growth. • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and uphold safety, integrity, and ethical standards.

What You Bring

WSP is seeking an Early Career Transmission Line Engineer for its Salt Lake City, UT office, joining the Power Delivery Billings Line Team to help meet client objectives and solve challenges. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical Engineering or related field. • 0‑1 years of post‑graduation experience. • Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. • Familiarity with design/build processes, relevant codes, and construction regulations. • Effective written and verbal communication for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Ability to self‑lead, multi‑task, prioritize, and work independently or in a team. • Proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and design tools (AutoCAD, CAM; PLSCADD preferred). • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; safety‑focused with ability to travel as needed. • Preferred: Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. • Preferred: Internship experience in relevant engineering discipline. • Preferred: Membership in professional practice organizations. • Preferred: Coursework in structural analysis, foundations, soils, surveying, or power systems. • Preferred: Experience with PLSCADD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or MATHCAD.
