About the Role
The Driver Helper rides on the vehicle and assists the driver in providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services on a designated residential route. Responsibilities include safely loading waste, carrying bags and containers to the vehicle, directing the driver from the ground, and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle, route, and work area. Key duties involve operating packing mechanisms and various levers to activate lifting and loading, cleaning waste from the packer blade, truck body, and hopper after each disposal trip, and performing thorough pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections while reporting any safety issues. The Helper also interacts courteously with customers, dispatchers, and team members, monitors waste for prohibited items, cleans accidental spills according to safety standards, meets productivity standards, follows all safety policies, and performs other assigned tasks. • Ride on the vehicle to assist the driver on residential routes. • Operate packing mechanism and loading levers. • Clean waste from packer blade, truck body, and hopper after each trip. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues. • Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and team members. • Monitor waste for prohibited items and clean accidental spills per safety standards. • Maintain productivity standards to ensure timely service. • Follow all required safety policies and procedures. • Utilize health‑care and dependent care spending accounts. • Participate in employee assistance program, discount programs, retirement match, ESPP, and paid time off.
