About the Role

The technician will perform fieldwork under the supervision of a crew chief, field director, or principal investigator, and may also assist in laboratory tasks. Core duties include conducting cultural resource surveys, archaeological monitoring and excavations, documenting findings with field notes and digital devices, photo‑documenting artifacts, and processing recovered materials. • Conduct cultural resource surveys, archaeological monitoring, and excavations. • Document sites and artifacts with accurate field notes and digital forms. • Record field data using digital devices and photo‑document artifacts with a camera log. • Process recovered artifacts by washing, labeling, and cataloguing. • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to address unusual problems.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least a high school diploma and two years of relevant archaeological experience, a valid driver’s license, and U.S. citizenship. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology, three or more years of field methodology experience, prior work in Arizona or New Mexico, and completion of an archaeological field school. Proficiency with GPS, Microsoft Office, and data‑collection technology, together with strong attention to detail and communication skills, is essential. • Minimum: High school diploma, 2+ years relevant archaeological field experience, valid driver’s license, US citizenship. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology, 3+ years field methodology experience, prior work in AZ/NM, completion of an archaeological field school. • Proficient with GPS, Microsoft applications, and data‑collection technology. • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and written/oral communication skills. • Knowledge of cultural resource management regulations (NHPA, NEPA) and basic lab analysis.
