About the Role
The advisor collaborates closely with commercial, legal, project delivery and regional procurement hub teams to deliver efficient and commercially strong outcomes. As a trusted advisor, they mentor project teams, enhance commercial capability, and help shape consistent, high‑performing procurement practices across multiple workstreams, contributing to essential water infrastructure delivery across Queensland. Key responsibilities include leading procurement for key projects, developing sourcing strategies, preparing RFQs, negotiating supplier and subcontractor agreements, and managing commercial risks. The role also involves building strong supplier networks, providing cost‑control and reporting support to Project and Contract Managers, and reviewing contracts. • Lead procurement activities for Queensland Water Program projects, ensuring compliance with Downer and client frameworks. • Develop sourcing strategies, prepare RFQs, negotiate supplier/subcontractor agreements, and manage commercial risks. • Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor networks to secure quality inputs and market intelligence. • Provide commercial support to Project and Contract Managers, including cost control, reporting, and contract reviews. • Mentor project teams to enhance procurement and commercial capabilities across the program.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate is a commercially minded procurement professional with at least seven years of experience in procurement, strategy or commercial management within construction, utilities or similar sectors, preferably Tier 1. They should have extensive supplier and subcontractor networks, strong negotiation and contract execution skills, and a tertiary qualification in procurement, commercial, contract management or finance (CIPS desirable). Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, as well as the ability to coach and develop project teams, are essential. • Minimum 7 + years procurement, strategy, or commercial management experience in construction, utilities or similar industries (Tier 1 preferred). • Proven negotiation and contract execution expertise with established supplier/subcontractor relationships. • Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Commercial, Contract Management, Finance or related field (CIPS certification desirable). • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
