About the Role
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive safety program that aligns with regulatory systems, contract strategies, and CGS policies. The SSHO protects people, the environment, property, and financial resources by advising on changes, providing training, and partnering with department leaders to mitigate risk across operations, logistics, transportation, and supporting contract departments. Salary range is $117,000‑$127,000 and the position is onsite/office based. • Develop and maintain Accident Prevention Plans that meet contract, regulatory, and company requirements. • Serve as primary contact for safety incidents, maintain confidential case files, and lead investigation meetings. • Review and approve all contractor safety plans. • Conduct inspections, training, and evaluations to ensure compliance with safety procedures and stay current on regulatory changes. • Provide high‑level internal and external customer service; investigate complaints and implement corrective actions. • Coordinate communication among staff, HR, project management, insurers, and health care providers. • Execute data‑driven programs to identify, measure, and monitor risk; produce recommendations and implement strategies. • Lead preparation and participation in compliance audits and maintain proper recordkeeping. • Utilize online safety records management system for incident, near‑miss, and training documentation. • Operate government and CGS‑owned vehicles in accordance with safety policies. • Maintain professionalism and work effectively with all organizational levels. • Assess risk associated with safety plans, work activities, and equipment usage.

What You Bring
• Manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently while communicating clearly in writing and orally. • Possess at least 5 years progressive site EHS experience, or 3 years plus CSP certification or a Safety & Health degree. • Hold OSHA 30 certification (Construction or General Industry) and a current EM 385‑1‑1 (40‑hour) certificate (or obtain within 90 days). • Demonstrate experience drafting safety policies, conducting investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions. • Proficient with safety management software and Microsoft Word/Excel for metric tracking. • Exhibit strong written and oral communication, mature judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. • Meet physical requirements (wear respirator, lift 50 lb), hold a valid driver’s license, and possess U.S. citizenship. • Pass pre‑hire background and drug screening, obtain intelligence‑level clearance, and be willing to travel up to 10 % (including possible international travel).
