About the Role
Key duties include configuring, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters for IL2, IL4, and IL5 environments, developing Helm charts and operators for Esri services, provisioning container‑native storage, and integrating monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus and Fluentd to meet compliance requirements. • Configure, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters for IL2, IL4, and IL5 environments supporting Esri ArcGIS services. • Develop Helm charts and Kubernetes Operators to automate deployment and scaling of Esri components such as Notebook Server and GeoAnalytics Server. • Provision container‑native storage (e.g., AWS EBS, Azure Disks) and manage persistent volume claims for durability and backup compliance. • Integrate observability tools like Prometheus, Fluentd, or OpenTelemetry for monitoring, logging, and IL‑compliant reporting. • Implement service‑mesh solutions such as Istio or Linkerd to enhance security and traffic management. • Use Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) to automate cluster provisioning and configuration. • Apply cloud security best practices across AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructures. • Prioritize and manage complex project tasks to meet stakeholder requirements.

What You Bring
NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a Geospatial Kubernetes Engineer to design, deploy, and manage containerized applications in a cloud‑native environment for US Southern Command. The position is remote, requires US citizenship and a basic background check, and while no clearance is mandatory, a Secret or TS/SCI clearance is preferred. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, cloud computing, or a related field, or possess five years of equivalent Kubernetes administration experience, and demonstrate expertise in migrating and managing geospatial workloads, service‑mesh architectures, and infrastructure‑as‑code tools. Preferred qualifications include CKA or cloud DevOps certifications, fluency in Portuguese or Spanish, and experience with government IT programs. • Hold a BS in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or a related field, or 5 years of Kubernetes administration experience. • Demonstrate experience migrating and managing geospatial layers and Esri services within Kubernetes. • Possess strong knowledge of containerized geospatial applications, troubleshooting, and monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK). • Preferred certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer. • Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish and experience with government IT programs are advantageous.
