About the Role
The equipment operator will safely operate a variety of heavy machinery on the project while adhering to Mortenson’s safety policies, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and performing routine maintenance. • Operates equipment such as blade, dozer, loader, scraper, forklift/telehandler, crane, bobcat/skid‑steer, boom lifts/aerial lifts, and roller based on project requirements • Follows prescribed safety regulations • Ensures housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in the assigned area • Performs routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning • Observes equipment operation to detect machine malfunction • Follows work plans and pre‑task cards • Effectively work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

What You Bring
Candidates must demonstrate strong teamwork, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse groups and organizational levels. Applicants are required to hold the necessary equipment certifications, have at least one year of relevant experience, and possess a valid driver’s license with the appropriate class and endorsements. • High quality, professional work product performed with initiative, productivity, a positive attitude and behavior • Strong teamwork orientation • Positive attitude and professional customer service skills • Ability to operate equipment controls (levers, gears, pedals, steering) • Adaptive, effective communication and active listening skills • Strong cross‑cultural relationship building and influencing at all organizational levels • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts • Knowledge of equipment and their uses • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) • Ability to work independently • Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; heavier loads require assistance or equipment • Equipment certifications as required • Minimum one year of related experience • Valid driver’s license of proper class with necessary endorsements as required by law
