About the Role
Key responsibilities include developing high‑level budgets and cost models from early design information, conducting material takeoffs, preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project expenses, researching competitor bids, and collaborating on value‑engineering solutions. The Senior Estimator also leads bid strategy and preparation, engages with clients to clarify specifications, oversees contract review and negotiations, manages subcontractor relationships, and performs continuous cost management throughout the project lifecycle. • Develop high‑level budgets, cost models, and order‑of‑magnitude estimates from limited design data. • Conduct detailed material takeoffs and quantify required resources. • Prepare precise cost estimates using advanced estimating software, covering labor, material, equipment, and contractor costs. • Analyze direct and indirect project expenses, overhead, and profit margins to formulate competitive bids. • Research competitors’ bids and pricing strategies to inform proposal development. • Collaborate on value‑engineering options to achieve cost savings without sacrificing quality. • Review and refine estimates with estimating teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards. • Create and execute comprehensive bid strategies aligned with market conditions and client expectations. • Lead the preparation of organized bid packages, meeting all submission requirements and deadlines. • Engage with clients and stakeholders to clarify specifications, answer questions, and build relationships. • Review contracts, provide comments, and participate in negotiations. • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, including analysis sheets and change‑order estimates. • Perform continuous cost management and contract administration throughout project life‑cycle. • Partner with senior management to develop new business and grow existing client accounts. • Mentor associate‑level cost and commercial managers and support senior leadership with reporting.

What You Bring
Successful candidates will understand how their role supports organizational goals, deliver high‑quality work, and consistently communicate and collaborate with teams and clients. Required abilities include strong research and analytical skills, proficiency with construction technology and estimating software, knowledge of construction law and economics, and the capacity to multitask in a fast‑paced environment while mentoring junior staff. The position requires a BS degree in Construction, Cost Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field, along with 7 to 10 years of cost‑management experience and professional accreditation such as MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, or CPE. Experience across sectors such as higher education, healthcare, commercial, hospitality, residential, or K‑12 projects is preferred. • Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and communication skills across internal and external stakeholders. • Hold a BS degree in Construction, Cost Management, Engineering, or related field and 7‑10 years of cost‑management experience. • Possess professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE) and experience in education, healthcare, commercial, hospitality, residential, or K‑12 projects.
