About the Role

The Lead Traction Power Engineer will spearhead the design of traction power substation enclosures, site plans, duct banks, and ground grids for mass transit applications such as commuter rail, high‑capacity transit, and light rail. Responsibilities include creating specifications, substation plans, profile drawings, single‑line diagrams, schematics, and conduit and wire schedules, primarily using MicroStation and 3D modeling tools. • Lead design of traction power substation enclosures, site plans, duct banks, and ground grids for mass transit projects. • Create specifications, substation plans, profile drawings, single‑line diagrams, schematics, and conduit/wire schedules. • Utilize CAE/CAD tools, primarily MicroStation with 3D modeling, for design work. • Travel to supplier, client, or construction sites as required. • Act as discipline engineer on medium to large projects, overseeing team deliverables. • Provide technical consultations, interdisciplinary analyses, and ensure code compliance with PE seal/signature. • Prepare material/equipment specifications, purchase requisitions, review supplier data, and witness shop tests. • Develop operation and maintenance plans, SOPs, O&M manuals, and deliver on‑site training. • Conduct surveys, site investigations, and coordinate with power companies to mitigate power leakage. • Maintain affiliations with professional societies (NACE, ASTM, AWWA, IEEE, APTA) to stay current on technologies.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a four‑year Electrical Engineering degree, possess 10‑15 years of relevant experience, and be an Engineer‑in‑Training with the intent to obtain a Professional Engineer license. Desired expertise includes DC traction power design, transformer substation design, MV/LV motor control centers, UPS systems, and familiarity with shop‑drawing reviews, testing procedures, and hands‑on inspections of electrical systems. • Required: 4‑year Electrical Engineering degree, 10‑15 years experience, Engineer‑in‑Training, PE license desired. • Desired skills: DC traction power design, transformer substation design, MV/LV motor control centers, UPS systems; AC traction design and EV experience a plus. • Experience reviewing shop drawings, design submittals, testing procedures, and inspecting electrical systems in various structures. • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem‑solving, decision‑making, written/oral communication, and presentation abilities. • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and physically access all structure types for inspections.
